Melanotic Macule – Reason for Dark spot on lips

Melanotic macule referred to a small (approx. 6mm), a similar to oval discoloration, red or dark brown spot on the lips. This patch generally occurs on the border of the lower lip, but it can occur to the other areas like inner cheeks, on gums etc.

Although they can occur in any age but In children it usually racial in origin. It is said that the treatment is not necessary in that case because they disappear as time goes. But in adults it you may caught by a macule by several causes like smoking, drug intake or may be due to hormones imbalanced.
